Day 7 – Your favorite episode from Generation 2

This is part 2 of day 6.  I guess you can say that I’m cheating, but oh well.  I need an excuse to prolong this blogging endeavor and stay away from my homework.

Anyway, my favorite episode from Gen. 2 may come as a surprise.  And it’s actually a tough one, as most of these posts have been. But my favorite has to be episode 3.04, “Pandora.”

Aww…Pandapops.  Doing all these posts make me miss my Gen. 2 cast.  :(

There are so many great things in Pandora’s episode though.  A) Lisa Blackwell is amazing and has perfect comedic timing and B) Every time she speaks, I need a personal translator.  But I think that’s what makes me love her.

We get to see a lot of Effy/Panda interaction, which we didn’t get enough of in series 4.

We have a little song.  Skins just isn’t complete without singing at some point.  That’s what I love about Skins.

And I love Mrs. Panda.  She is the absolute BEST parent in the entire Skins series (with the exception of Papa Fitch.  He’s pretty awesome too!)

We get an awesome little Naomi/Emily entrance!  I love this conversation they have.

Naomi: I don’t know why she invited me anyway; I hardly know her.
Emily: I asked her to invite you.
Naomi: [Sighing] I thought we sorted this out.
Emily: No, I didn’t mean it like — well, it doesn’t hurt to get to know each other, does it?
Naomi: Emily —
Emily: We’re in the same class. We’re going to be hanging out together for the next two years, and —
Naomi: You going to tell people you’re gay anytime soon?
Emily: What? I’m not. I’m not gay.
Naomi: [Smiling, sighing] I’m telling you, Em, you haven’t thought this thing through, have you?
Emily: No.

I love how Naomi so boldly stands up to Emily.  ”You going to tell people you’re gay anytime soon.”  And I love how Emily defends herself.  ”I’m not gay.”  Which, we know, is a total lie.  And Emily knows too.  She even admits that she is gay later in the episode.  I think Emily tells Naomi, so Naomi won’t run.  We know that running is Naomi’s favorite thing to do anyways…

Favorite moment of the entire episode?  The part that never fails to make me laugh?  This:

OMG!  The way Panda yells ‘SHOES!’ and then physically takes them off of Naomi’s feet?  I just die every time.

We have an awesome dance sequence, along with pot brownies and girls getting dressed/undressed.

*Cue Bon Jovi’s “Living on a Prayer” dance sequence!*

Then, OF COURSE, we have this little lovely interaction.

Naomily’s FIRST kiss!  But it’s not just the kiss that’s amazing.  Really, watch the episode and you’ll know what I mean.  Just look at Naomi’s faces before and after the kiss.  She tries to keep Emily at a distance.  ”It’s because of the drugs, right?”  Naomi needs an excuse, because otherwise kissing Emily would feel wrong.  Emily nods yes and they kiss again.

After the second kiss, Naomi feels something more for Emily that she’s just now finally realizing (I think she’s always known, but this moment confirms it.)  They pull back from their kiss, their eyes still closed, and just filling the space between them with everything that they will be in the future.

It’s beautiful directing and wonderful acting by both Kat and Lily.  One of my favorite Naomily scenes ever!

Afterward, Naomi says “You’re gay.” to Emily.  Emily, with her back turned to the camera, says “Yes,” agreeing to it for the first time in her life instead of denying it to Naomi and herself.

And then later?  In the bouncy castle?  (On a side note, I’m totally getting one of these for my next birthday.)

The way Naomi’s hands slowly come around Emily’s back and she holds on with both hands?  Lovely.  Just lovely.

Panda’s episode wouldn’t be complete without mentioning her and Cook.  I love them together.  Not necessarily as a couple, but their scenes together are always great.  And this is the first time I see Cook as a good guy, even if he is just looking to sleep with her.  I honestly believed that Cook wanted to do something to help Panda, and that he actually cared about her.  It wasn’t just another shag.  It was a connection.

Maybe they both felt lonely?  I don’t know.  It wasn’t just sex though, and that’s why it was so great and beautiful.

Overall, this episode is very high up there on list of “All-time favorite TV show episodes.”  And that’s with any TV show.  And I watch alot of TV.

Oh, and a close second to this episode in terms of “favorite episode of gen. 2?”  3.06 – Naomi.  Duh.  You should have known that one…

Gah…now I need to go re-watch this episode.  Yes, at 2:30 a.m.  I need some Naomily happiness in my life right now…

I agree that Pandora’s is one of the best episodes. I can never decide when picking “favorites” of anything.

But to add a comment to yours:

I also love the conversation between Naomi and Emily before they enter Pandora’s house. Your post cut the scene off before the best part:

I LOVE when Naomi defends Emily (and herself) against the pervy topiary neighbor’s comments. Naomi is so afraid of being gay and so ready to run, but in a heartbeat she fights back against injustice and protects in a way what she feels for Emily. One of the many reasons I love Naomi Campbell.

I love that conversation too! Like you said, she fights that injustice so quickly, which is who Naomi is at her core. We learned that from her very first episode.

I would have included that conversation, but I was afraid I would spiral out of control like I did on Day 4. Haha.

    Nice one.

I like a lot this episode too! The “making brownies” scene isone of the funniest scenes ever! And how the pijama party evolved until it became a massive party was great.
But I still vote as my favorite epiisode of Gen 2 “Naomi”, season 3.
